Unusual Things to Do for Christmas
Unusual Things to Do for Christmas When you come home for Christmas break this year, bring some creative ideas with you. If youââ¬â¢re tired of celebrating things the same way year in and year out, make some suggestions for how to shake things up at your house this holiday. Whether itââ¬â¢s celebrating in a new destination or drastically changing the menu, there are lots of ways to make this Christmas different from any other. If you donââ¬â¢t have any ideas that strike you, take some inspiration from this list: Volunteer Christmas isnââ¬â¢t a day of sharing gifts and feasting for many people. People without homes or families are in need of care during the holidays and volunteering for a soup kitchen or spending time with elderly people in a retirement home can make a huge difference in someoneââ¬â¢s life. Youll be surprised how many benefits volunteering can bring you. Go Camping Get away from all the commercialized expectations of Christmas and grab your tent and head out into the woods. Warming up by the fire and sleeping under the stars can be a refreshing change from Christmas party mayhem. Get Out of Town Go a step further and check out altogether by celebrating Christmas somewhere else this year. Whether itââ¬â¢s in a foreign country, or someplace warm like a tropical beach or just someplace different, it can certainly be an alternative to the usual Christmas routine. Celebrate Christmas Traditions From Around the World Make a pià ±ata and fill it with coins and candy like in Mexico. In Ukraine, a twelve-course meal is served and the familyââ¬â¢s youngest child sits by the window to watch for the first star to appear in the sky, signaling that itââ¬â¢s time to eat. Or dust off the snow and fire up the barbeque Australian style. Or do everything by candlelight for the entire day like in traditional Swedish lore. Do you want to know more about other Christmas traditions? Check out the blog on interesting facts about Christmas. Some of them will really surprise you! Fast for the Day Most Christmas celebrations involve eating a lot of food and drinking a lot of alcohol. Whether you want to avoid packing on the pounds or simply donââ¬â¢t wish to participate in the gluttony, fasting on Christmas would certainly be a departure from the norm. Put on a Christmas Play Get your family members together and put on a play. Maybe it will be based on an existing play or film like A Christmas Carol or Itââ¬â¢s a Wonderful Life or A Charlie Brown Christmas or How the Grinch Stole Christmas. Or maybe youââ¬â¢ll make up your own play thatââ¬â¢s totally unique. In any case, it can be a fun and creative way to get into the festivities. You can invite other family members, friends and neighbors to come and watch. Decorate Your Car If you think that decorating Christmas trees is too boring, put some tinsel and lights on your car so you can spread Christmas cheer even if youââ¬â¢re just driving to the gas station to buy coffee creamer. However, you can make an unusual Christmas tree instead. Bring a Guest If you have a friend from school who doesnââ¬â¢t have a place to celebrate Christmas this year, bring them home with you and share your family traditions with them. Rent a Horse-Drawn Sleigh Depending on where you live, you might be able to rent one of these for the day and get taken around a park. Donââ¬â¢t forget to bring some carrots for the horse. Plant a Tree This can be a great way to celebrate and spend time together as a family. Also, youââ¬â¢ll enjoy the fruits of it in the years to come. If itââ¬â¢s a fruit-bearing tree, save some of them during the year and use it to make a pie to eat on Christmas day to commemorate the day you planted it. Go Vegan Whether or not youââ¬â¢re actually a vegan, it can be a creative way to celebrate this year. Look up some vegan entree and dessert recipes and get your meat-eating father to participate in making it with you. If you get tired from the same scenario of celebrating Christmas but you still want to party, here youll find funny party themes for Christmas that you might actually like. Enjoy a unique Christmas this year with some of these fun and unorthodox ways to celebrate!

Emergency Preparation and Response in the World of Corporate Security Essay - 1
Emergency Preparation and Response in the World of Corporate Security - Essay Example In ââ¬Å"Emergency Preparation and Response in the World of Corporate Securityâ⬠I have carefully studied the fundamental security problems faced by corporate America. The purpose of this research is to provide a framework which security departments in business environments can utilize in achieving their goal of providing a secure workplace for all employees, contractors, and visitors. The security focus is to determine the appropriate actions to be taken during normal activities and steps to take in the event of unusual circumstances.à It is not possible to incorporate a definite preparation and response plan for every potential event that Corporate Security may experience.à The primary focus is to lay a ground work on how policies and procedures are to be implemented and to establish the communication bridge between the chain-of-command. In order to gain an insight on the security issues and problems faced by corporate America, I have gone through websites of companies with security programs in effect. Apart from that, I have also researched companies who have made it their business to provide security services to companies and organizations. I have studied what these companies have to offer their corporate clients and how they manage and overcome security threats. So what is good corporate security? Although ââ¬Ësecurityââ¬â¢ is not something practically measurable, however, the degree of preparedness of companies is what can be used to assess the practical vulnerability of a particular company to security threats. Companies must be prepared for unforeseen circumstances in terms of security risk situations. The Corporate Security department in collaboration with senior management of a company must create policies which make the work environment a safer place for employees, executives, contractors, corporate guests and dignitaries. A measurement tool can be devised by analyzing the level of security measures and risk management preparedness of a

Public and Government Healthcare in America Research Paper
Public and Government Healthcare in America - Research Paper Example 7). There were flaws to the system which President Obama and his healthcare program were trying to correct through the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act (PPACA) which became a law in March 23, 2010. The bill sought to provide inexpensive, but good quality health care for all the citizens of the United States. It is not only the costs of drugs and hospitalization; the entire healthcare system is being questioned. This was demonstrated in a 2007 National Health Interview Survey showing that 43 million Americans did not have an insurance coverage (Adams et al. as cited in Benson et al., 2011, p. 28). A report by Families USA (U.S. Department of Health and Human Services as cited in Benson et al., 2011) stated that most citizens below 65 had an insufficient health insurance during the period of 2007-2008. The road to a perfect healthcare system for the Obama administration and the American people is still a long way. There are many problems and challenges along the way, one of w hich is that most Americans with the insurance coverage are fearful of changing the questioned healthcare infrastructure. Why are Americans afraid of change? Change is a matter of acceptance with courage; courage is significant for accepting an improvement. Americans are afraid of changing the healthcare infrastructure for many reasons which will be discussed in this essay. The unique U.S. healthcare system allows the private sector to help the public sector or the government with providing health care. It is this kind of the system that allowed the private sector, particularly the insurance companies, to commit abuses and malpractices with ordinary citizens as the victim. It is also through this system that the Obama administration wants to incorporate changes and provide an avenue of perfect health for the American people. The healthcare system is a complicated topic involving political, cultural, and moral aspects where change could not be easily implemented as it involves many a reas. Politicians could not reach a point, while all the classes of society could not agree on the kind of change they wanted. In his first address to Congress, President Obama identified healthcare as a primary focus that required an appropriate funding regardless of the existing recession in 2009 (Obama as cited in Benson et al., 2011, p. 28). Historical Development and Current State of Health Care Delivery Before the signing of the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act (PPACA, also known as the ObamaCare), there were several challenges, or problems, the government and the American people had to face. The PPACA was challenged by 26 state governments, but the controversy was resolved by the Supreme Court ruling in June 2012, which upheld the provision of the law that every American should have a health insurance or pay a fine. This individual mandate was a significant part of the ObamaCare, and, so, the Supreme Court ruling was a big boost and support for the law. Had the cour t ruled otherwise, the entire Affordable Care Act would have fallen (Tate, 2012, p. 4). The U.S. healthcare system allows a combination of private and public insurance agencies to provide healthcare insurance to American citizens. Many insurances of this kind were sponsored by their respective employers. Before the passage of the Affordable

Chick-Fil-a: ââ¬ÅEat Mor Chikinââ¬Â (Except on Sunday)
S. Truett Cathy founded Chick-fil-A in 1967. Cathy is the founder, chairman, and CEO of Chick-fil-A. The first Chick-fil-A restaurant was opened in Atlantaââ¬â¢s Greenbriar Shopping Center. In 2005, Chick-fil-A had sales of $1. 975 billion, which landed them as being the ââ¬Å"second-largest quick-service chicken restaurant chain in the United Statesâ⬠(Perreault, Cannon, & McCarthy, 2012, p. 529). Throughout 37 states and Washington, D. C. , there are 1,250+ Chick-fil-A restaurants. Due to Cathyââ¬â¢s religious background, all of the restaurants are closed on Sundays. The companyââ¬â¢s official statement of corporate purpose is ââ¬Å"to glorify God by being a faithful steward of all that is entrusted to us and to have a positive influence on all who come in contact with Chick-fil-Aâ⬠â⬠(Perreault, Cannon, & McCarthy, 2012, p. 529). Cathy also established the WinShape Foundation in 1984 in attempt to help people such as restaurant employees, foster children, and other young people. Chick-fil-Aââ¬â¢s ââ¬Å"Eat Mor Chikinâ⬠advertising campaign, which started in 1995 with the first billboard, is one of the longest-running in the United States. By 2010, the company looks to double its current size in terms of new locations, primarily through stand-alone restaurants and aggressive expansion into the western United Statesâ⬠(Perreault, Cannon, & McCarthy, 2012, p. 529). Chick-fil-A was one of the first to market the chicken sandwich restaurant food chain. They make the chicken sandwich better than most of their competitors as well as they excel in the chicken market/industry. Their marketing strategy consists of the theme ââ¬Å"Eat Morâ⬠Chikin. ââ¬Å"The Eat Mor Chikin theme, created by Dallas-based ad agency the Richards Group, was first introduced in 1995 as a three-dimensional billboard concept depicting a black-and-white cow sitting atop the back of another cow painting the words ââ¬Å"Eat-Mor-Chikinâ⬠on a b illboard (Perreault, Cannon, & McCarthy, 2012, p. 529). The theme of the cow implementing people to eat more chicken was a hit. ââ¬Å"The theme has been used as the basis of an integrated marketing campaign, which encompasses billboards, in-store point-of-purchase materials, promotions, radio and TV advertising, clothing and merchandise (e. . , plush cows, bobble-head cows), and calendarsâ⬠(Perreault, Cannon, & McCarthy, 2012, p. 529). With tons of beef fast food restaurants out there such as McDonaldââ¬â¢s, Burger King, Wendyââ¬â¢s and Hardeeââ¬â¢s, Chick-fil-A is outnumbered. The majority of fast food places sell hamburgers as their primary food product. Chick-fil-Aââ¬â¢s attraction is their chicken sandwich, a ââ¬Å"healthierâ⬠alternative to the hamburger. Chick-fil-Aââ¬â¢s position is as a preferred alternative in the burger-dominated fast food industry.Going the ââ¬Å"second-mileâ⬠is Chick-fil-Aââ¬â¢s competitive advantage. ââ¬Å"The comp any stays true to core business principles, which are based on biblical principles, by closing all restaurant doors on Sundaysâ⬠(Battaile, 2013). By closing on Sundays, they are allowing a day of rest for all of their employees. As well as it allows it allows them ââ¬Å"an opportunity to worship and/or spend time with their familiesâ⬠(Battaile, 2013). Other retailers should only close on Sundays if it follows their religious belief/standpoint.Otherwise, they wise well be open Sundays, because restaurants such as McDonaldââ¬â¢s are all over the world, and different countries may not practice their religion on Sundays. Chick-fil-A is founded by a Christian man, who choses to have his business closed on Sundays, because he believes in a day of rest. Overall, Chick-fil-A is an excellent restaurant with a wonderful marketing approach. Their approach to advertise their chicken by using cows is ingenious. As well as they follow the four Ps: Product, Price, Place, & Promotio n.They even added an additional two Ps: Purpose & People. The fact that they follow their Christian belief by being closed on Sundays really speaks out to the people on who they are. ?
